Inner child and nervous system healing for anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and childhood trauma.
Hi I’m Jennifer, a Somatic Psychotherapist specialising in trauma healing through nervous system regulation, inner child and shadow work and somatic release for powerful and lasting change.
How I work
Psychological (mind)
The first step is to become aware of your thoughts and recognise patterns of negative thinking. This builds self awareness and allows you to see which triggers are causing your anxious or self critical thoughts to spiral.. You can then become aware of thoughts that create feelings like self doubt, shame, sadness, anxiety and a lack of inner trust. When your inner dialogue is chaotic it can be hard to distinguish which thoughts belong to your adult self and which belong to your inner child.
Identifying problematic, incorrect and irrational thinking is the first step in understanding the core beliefs than underpin your behaviour and ultimately your sense of self.
Inner Child (emotions)
The next level involves developing a connection to your emotional self sometimes called your inner child or shadow. Internal Family Systems and Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy are powerful modalities for connecting with empathy and compassion to your wounded self who has been hurt by past experiences. Your inner child is the part of you that becomes anxious, depressed and emotionally triggered by life experiences that remind you of the past. Your inner child is made up of emotions stored in your subconscious and the limiting beliefs that go with them.
Your inner child is the part of you that carries abandonment and attachment wounds which leads to difficulties in relationships and limits your ability to be self compassionate, make good decisions and reach your full potential. It’s the emotional wounds of your inner child that keeps your nervous system locked into dysregulation.
Somatic (body)
This type of healing involves understanding and exploring how your nervous system and body hold repressed feelings and trauma. Somatic work helps you access deeper levels of self awareness, release stored trauma, and increase inner connection and well-being.
Some aspects of somatic work are breath work, energy work, movement and other mindfulness-based practices. Connection with your body is built through emotional literacy, awareness of physical sensations and cultivating empathy, insight and the ability to tolerate and sit with painful physiological and emotional experiences..
Your body is the portal to deep level change and transformation, de-shaming your body’s process and functions and cultivating a loving relationship with your body lays the foundation for life long regulation and safety within yourself.
“Deep level healing and transformation happens when you learn to integrate all aspects of your psyche, body and emotions. Your subconscious mind and nervous system are the gateways to this profound level change.”

“I was lucky to be introduced to Jen and her somatic awakening session. I wasn’t sure what this would entail, but Jen explained in detail and made me feel at ease.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who feels talking therapy isn’t enough, and perhaps you’re intrigued to go more somatically within the body. Jen truly is one of life’s healers and creates the most beautiful safe container in which to help you heal and grow.”
